Spousal and Child Support
Even if the parents get divorced, they still have a legal obligation to support their minor children.
The amount of child support is calculated by using the Child Support Guidelines set out in the Iowa Code, based on the Income Shares Model. This model takes into account the number of minor children in the family and the gross income of the parents, estimating the amount of support that would have been available for the child if the parents had remained married. The resulting amount shall be divided proportionally to the parties according to their incomes by using the Iowa child support worksheet.

I'm just downloading the forms now, but thus far it was pretty painless and easy to fill out the forms. Just be sure to have your home's formal legal description and your vehicle title gathered before you start. It will save much time. I didn't do that, so it slowed me down.
